Why is Detoxification So Important ?
We all live in toxic environments and encounter daily toxins: pesticides in our food or on golf courses, heavy metals and chlorine in drinking water, mold inside our bathroom, EMF, bacteria, fungi, and mutating viruses.
Chronic diseases like dementia and cancer start when the abilities of the body to detox itself do not match the toxin load.
The Types of Detoxification:
1) Gut Detox Axis: a Mediterranean diet based on olive oil and 4-6 fruits and vegetables a day is still the best. Support your gut microbiome with soluble fiber ( beans, garlic, onion, artichoke) and use ground flaxseed, fermented food like kimchi and sourcrout. Daily BM is the first step towards the detoxification process.
2) Kidney Detox: Hydration is a key. To increase kidney function blood alkalinization is paramount. It can prevent or delay the need for dialysis. The simplest way to alkalinize your urine is to have a smoothy with your favorite greens like spinach and kale. It is recommended to add Magnesium glycinate and potassium citrate to your supplements list for kidney protection.
3) Liver Detox: The liver is responsible for 3000 reactions in our body. There are 3 phases of liver detox. During phase one the toxins are oxidized by Cytochrome 450. Cruciferous vegetables help this process. During phase 2 the toxins combine with glutathione and get excreted.
